One of the most important concerns that we face these days in society and among doctors related to skin and hair is the issue of authenticity and quality of health and cosmetic items.
These days, we see that in every alley and street, in front of every bus or subway station, there is a spread of all kinds of hygiene and cosmetic items, and they are selling these products.
Regarding the reasons for the spread of the sinister phenomenon of the supply of smuggled products in the field of cosmetics and hygienic ,we invited Mohammad Reza Bahirai, the head of the Association of Importers of Cosmetics and Hygienic, following the words of the head of the Food and Drug Organization, in the Clubhouse of Pharmaceutical Dushanbe about the ban on the import of cosmetics and health products.
While supporting the views of the head of food and organization, he said, referring to the role of various organizations in controlling smuggling.
1.Eighteen years ago, cosmetics and hygienic goods were imported from Kish Island and other borders without a birth certificate, and according to the law of that day, the importers imported the goods only by paying customs duties, and there was no need to obtain the approval of the Ministry of Hygienic and get a license. But gradually the Food and Drug Organization imposed the policies that imports in this area is under its supervision, which we have honestly seen the results of over the past years.
2.Unfortunately, since 3 years ago, suddenly and with no expertise and without any attention to the thing that import is a special and time-consuming process, without defining a deadline, the entry of these items into the country was banned, and in this way, in addition to major financial loss was imposed on legal importing companies, and people’s health was also endangered.
3.If the policy of the Food and Drug Organization had continued until now, we would have a situation now, where most companies were obliged to obey the regulations of the Ministry of Health and the market was disciplined and people could buy with peace of mind, but unfortunately due to mistake in foresight, With the establishment of a ban on the official and legal import of hygienic and cosmetic items, today we witness of smuggled goods with no quality and no authenticity.
4.The policy of banning the import of hygienic, cosmetic and perfume items should be revised, and in my opinion, the speech of the head of the Food and Drug Organization is unique and realistic in its own way, and all sympathizers should follow it.
5.The issue of licenses for cosmetics and perfumes, which are health-oriented products, should be under the supervision of the Food and Drug Organization, and the complaints of the head of the Food and Drug Organization in this regard show that we should move in this direction, and we hope to issue and renewal the licenses as soon as possible.
6.In my opinion, 90% of cosmetics available in the market are fake. This is while the mission of health products is to help people’s health and prevent diseases and kind of help the treatment circle, this issue is more sensitive regarding skin issues. Regarding cosmetics and hygienic products, if the product is smuggled, lack of health, and is not controlled by the Ministry of Health, it will be pathogenic, thus the product that is supposed to help people’s health is at the opposite point.
7.In the previous years if someone claims that there are fake goods in Iran ,no one would believe that because the importing companies which are located in Iran and offered the goods to the market and if fake goods were introduced into the market, they would be dealt with immediately.
8.The Ministry of Industry and mine and trade announced that items that are not produced in the country will be allowed to import them, which unfortunately has not happened yet. Although, fortunately, the current officials of the Ministry of Industry and mine and trade, interacting with the Association of Importers of Health and Cosmetic Products, are carrying out expert discussions and are aware of the sensitivity and importance of the issue, and we hope that at least what will happen is that bulk imports will be provided for brands. Because in this way, on one hand, the empty capacity of the factories will be used, and on the other hand, the high-quality product will reach the consumer.
